FIBARO Home Center 2

In previous posts I have often mentioned the central unit, which is the heart and brain of automation.  In this post we will look closely at the central unit. In particular, we will focus on the (in my opinion) the best central unit currently on the market that uses Z-Wave communication protocol.

What is Home Center 2?

As I mentioned this is a device that is used for home automation. Home Center is the central unit or center that has a built-in Z-Wave interface module that allows you to control Z-Wave sensors, control devices and automation devices.

Special features of the device

• Extremely efficient hardware architecture = fastest device of its kind in the world
• Ultra low power consumption
• Remote access via a website or mobile phone
• Simple, user-friendly interface
• Quick and easy configuration
• GPS localization Users
• SMS notification
• Advanced System Restore option / data
• History of events

Technical specs

    Intel Atom 1.6 Ghz Processor

Thanks to the excellent performance of this processor , Home Center 2 Z-WAVE central unit currently is the fastest on the market.

1GB RAM, 2GB SLC Hard Drive

Large memory + fast processor = rapid communication between the devices of the entire system. The structure of the hardware used in Home Center 2 provides high speed communication among devices and the central unit.

  4GB MLC Recovery Disc
Significantly increases the security of the Central Unit. Each HC has its own recovery disk that stores data from loss. The addition of a central unit also closes before any unauthorized access, another advantage of this solution is the possibility of rapid recovery in the event of any error in the settings etc..

The look

The company FIBARO coming from Poland, in the creation of this central unit were attentive to every detail. Compared to other similar devices they prepared high-quality and attractive aluminum casing.

User interface

The company FIBARO are aware of the importance of convenience and ease of use of the product. Therefore, they are made to look very attractive and easy to use interface.

The central unit can be easily connected to a PC via the Internet or a local IP address (do not panic :) FIBARO has prepared  for us  the applet that allows a central unit finds itself), but also programs available that are specially adapted for management system (of course, they have the ability to access over the Internet or local area network).
They are available for the following operating systems and devices:

                                                              Ipad

                                               Iphone and Android

Of course, access to our system is very well protected, so that the fear of the intrusion of unwanted people completely unnecessary!

Something about home automation or smart building - PART II

Hello,
we have finished our topic at the review of the differences between the automation systems. We have already mentioned that the basic difference is in the type of connection between the components of the automation system. The "wired system" is a server / central unit that is physically connected to all other users, devices, sensors ... while "wireless system" communicates with devices "over the air" or more specifically via radio frequency.

Let`s look at the wireless systems...
Like mentioned in the previous publication, wireless systems are a new era in the world of home automation. In addition to this statement, there are many advantages.

Affordable Systems

This is the first advantage. The technology is wireless, so we can avoid many costs at the installation of this system.
To establish communication between the central unit and a control unit in a hardwired system we need a lot of money, because the need for additional installation or  additional cables, wirings. We can compare the cost of wiring the system to the cost of conventional electrical installations. For example, if we paid for the electrical installation  1000€, the cost of wiring devices for automation systems is  somewhere in the same amount. If we choose the wireless automation system, we save a lot of money at the very start.

Flexibility of the system

A big advantage of using wireless system over  wired system is also flexibility.
It is very easy to install all the controllers, sensors and other devices in the already established electrical installation. It is not seen outside the installation like it is seen in the wired system, so there is no »mess«. We also do not have no additional costs if we want to make some changes in the system. Furthermore, if you know the basics of electrical engeneering, you can make the changes that you want in the system all by yourself at home! Of course it is reccomended that all the changes are fixed by experts.

There are a lot of advantages of the wireless systems.

Stay in touch with more informations, advantages, specialities and details of the system in the next posts in the bloog. Comming soon…

Something about home automation or smart building

People usually have distinct interpretations about the term “smart house” or “automated house”.  This is because the activity or industry of automation extremely wide-ranging.  The systems  are electronically and mechanically aligned to give the user full control and management for all types of devices in the facility. The system includes  control heating or cooling systems to alarms, door phones,  watering the garden,  the management of shutters or  blinds, control of lighting and sockets, etc ... In fact, there is no limit!

There are different types of systems which can be separated in some way with regard to the base of operation and it`s structure. Let's look at some basic differences between them.

Basically systems can be distinguished according to whether they are “wired systems “ or  “wireless systems”.

Wired systems

They are smart and start of the period automated houses.
A simple wired home exchange system

These systems include a central unit, which is with consumers control units and sensors connected through different types of cable wires. The functionality of such system is quite a wide range and the ability to solve new problems is still being developed and disseminated. Wired system needs an extra wiring, because of the guide that connect the central unit with modules and sensors.  Because of the wiring are planning, implementation and adaptation or subsequent changes very expensive and inaccessible to many people.  Moreover subsequent changes  are very difficult and quite expensive.

Wireless Systems

Are systems that change the world in the field of home automation.  All restrictions suddenly disappear – they are affordable, installation requires no additional wiring, refurbishing or any change in the electrical network does not pose any hindrance or extra large interventions in network automation and much more ...

Learn about the differences between automation systems and more about wireless automation systems in the next post!
